How the Security Hold Works

TGX rents high-value gear, so a refundable security hold may be required before pickup.

A security hold is not the same as a normal charge. It temporarily reserves a set amount on your card during the rental period, similar to how hotels, rental cars, and equipment rentals protect against damage, loss, missing items, or late returns.

After your ID verification is approved, TGX will confirm your rental details and provide instructions for the remaining balance and any required security hold. The hold must be successfully placed before the rental kit can be picked up.

When the gear is returned, TGX inspects the full kit, including the main item, accessories, case, batteries, chargers, and any included materials. If everything is returned on time and in good condition, the hold is released.

If gear is damaged, missing, lost, or returned late, TGX may use part or all of the hold to cover the issue according to the rental terms. Any remaining amount would be released back to your card.

Release timing depends on your bank or card issuer, but TGX releases the hold after the rental has been returned, inspected, and cleared.
